TRNOBS

You can run TRNOBS Online or download TRNOBS software for standalone PC use.

TRNOBS will transform 3D geodetic coordinates between NAD83(CSRS) and all official realizations of the International Terrestrial Reference Frame (ITRF).

TRNOBS transforms coordinates between NAD83(CSRS) and all official realizations of the ITRF.

TRNOBS transforms coordinates between NAD83(CSRS) and all official realizations of the ITRF.

A user can manually enter the geographic coordinates one point at a time or submit a file in either GHOST code 04 record or GeoLab format. The user must also select the (NAD83<->ITRF) transformation to be applied and the approximate date the GPS work was done.

TRNOBS usage example

NRCan 3D geodetic monuments are often used for testing GPS equipment.  Monument coordinates are published in NAD83(CSRS).  Coast Guard beacon and CDGPS corrections produce coordinates in NAD83(CSRS).  However uncorrected GPS and WAAS-corrected GPS produce coordinates in WGS84 (equivalent to ITRF), not in NAD83, the difference being in the order of 1.5 m.

TRNOBS can transform NAD83(CSRS) coordinates to ITRF (WGS84) or vise-versa. Anyone wishing to verify their GPS results at a known geodetic monument must consider the GPS technique used and ensure the GPS results and the monument coordinates being compared against are in the same reference system.
